Editing Objects with AutoCAD - Section 4

19.2.1 Clamps in Polylines and Splines

In polylines multifunction grips are of two types: those that appear in their vertices and those that appear in the midpoints of their segments. The vertex pinch options basically allow adding and removing vertices. The options of the pinching of the midpoints allow you to add vertices and also convert that segment to its opposite. If it is a line, the grip will have an option to convert that segment into an arc; if it is an arc, then the menu will offer the possibility of converting it into a straight line.

In the case of the splines, the first thing we must emphasize is that one of their grips is actually a switch for spline control, since it allows us to select between adjustment points or control vertices. As you may remember, in the section where we draw splines, we mentioned that the adjustment points are located on the spline line, while the control vertices delimit a polygon that shapes the spline. In either case, the multi-function gripping menu allows us to move, add or remove adjustment points or control vertices.

19.2.2 Matrix clamps

Another type of object with very versatile multifunction grips are the matrices. The clamping of the lower left corner allows you to move the matrix as a whole (and, therefore, enter the editing mode by grips that we saw in section 19.1), the others, depending on their location, allow you to modify the number or distance of rows and columns. The clamping of the upper right corner allows you to modify both at the same time.
