Editing Objects with AutoCAD - Section 4

17.10 Unite

The Join command allows you to join individual segments of lines, arcs, elliptical arcs and splines, fusing them into a single object. When we execute the command, it simply asks us to point out the different objects to be joined, but it should be noted that the extension of each object to be joined must be coplanar to the other, otherwise the union will not be made.

17.11 Split

The Part command can delete a segment of an object by pointing out the 2 points that delimit that segment. If both points are equal, then the command creates 2 independent objects.
When we execute the command, the point that we use to designate the object is considered as the first point of rupture, so it is only necessary to point the second. However, in the command window we have the opportunity to re-point the first point, with the object already designated.

17.11.1 Start at a point

Unlike the previous command, the Start at a point button only requires that we point to a break point, so in lines, arcs and open polylines, it will invariably create two objects. Its use therefore only requires that we designate the object and then the point, so it is not necessary to exemplify it.

17.12 Stretch

The execution of this command is directly related to the use of the capture windows. Those objects that are designated by the capture window, but that have not been completely contained in it, we can stretch them from a base point. In contrast, those objects that are completely contained in the window will be displaced instead of stretched. However, this command has some exceptions: it is not possible to stretch circles, ellipses, or blocks.

17.13 Decompose

When we defined the polylines, we said that they were objects composed of lines and / or arcs, that were united in their vertices and that, therefore, behaved like a unique object. The Decompose command separates the lines and arcs from the polylines and converts them into separate objects.
