The scientist who redefined traditional conservation….

DR. JANE GOODALL, D.B.E.

Founder, the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace

Equipped with little more than a notebook, binoculars, and her fascination with wildlife, Jane Goodall braved a realm of unknowns to give the world a remarkable window into humankind’s closest living relatives. Through nearly 60 years of groundbreaking work, Dr. Jane Goodall has not only shown us the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also redefined species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment.

The inventor of microsatellites….

SIR MARTIN SWEETING

Founder and Executive Chairman of Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd.

Since 1981, Sir Martin has pioneered rapid-response, low-cost and highly-capable small satellites utilising modern terrestrial COTS devices to 'change the economics of space'. In 1985 he formed a spin-off University company (SSTL) which has designed, built, launched and operated in orbit 71 nano, micro, and mini-satellites – including the international Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) and the first Galileo navigation satellite (GIOVE-A) for ESA.
