Topological Analysis with Microstation Geographics

Let's see the case, I have a number of plots in the cadastre, which are being affected by a high voltage line, I want to know which of these are, paint them in a different color and store them in a separate file.

1. Layer construction

Topology analysis microstation Layers can be created from what is visible, this can be in reference maps or in the open file. It is not necessary to have a project open, if I have objects with assigned attributes.

In this case, I have an open project, and I have visible the plots of the cadastre on which I want to make an analysis of which properties are affected by the axis of the busway.

The topological analysis is activated with "utilities / topology analysis". In this panel appear the alternatives to create, delete, unfold and add layers.

In this case, to create the parcel layer,

  • active the level where they are stored (or the attribute that they have),
  • I select the type of layer (area) although it can be of lines or points
  • then select the name; in this case it will be called "Urb1-15"
  • below I select the line type, fill color and border. It can also be created based on a query (query) using the query builder or a stored one.

Then I apply the "create" button, immediately the layer is created above, which I can show with the "display" button. At this moment, this layer is only stored in memory but I can store it as a .tlr file that can be called at any time ... even without having an open project.

If I want to add it to the map, use the "Add" button, this goes to the selected level and with visible colors or fillings.

In the same way I create the layer "high lines", for which I select the respective level. So I already have the two layers, what I want now is to analyze the parcels that are affected by that busway axis.

2. Layer analysis

Topology analysis microstation The analysis is done by choosing "overlay / line to Area", then I select the line and area layer to be analyzed. The same can be "areas to areas" or "areas to points" for other cases.

Below shows me the alternative to choose which layer to maintain as a result, I select the plots (areas).

You can also choose the mode of analysis, "overlap" is the most suitable, although there are other forms such as inside, outside, coincidence etc.

On the right, write the name of the resulting layer and the alternative that the links to the database are kept in the outgoing parcels. The name of my layer will be "Properties affected"

To create the layer I select "build", now you can see the created layer, for visualization purposes you touch and press the "display" button.

This alternative no longer exists in Bentley Map, or at least the treatment is totally different.
