More AutoCAD Map, Civil 3D and Land Desktop tips
Recently Cadapult announced the publication of its new edition:
Digging Deeper Into AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011
416 pages organized in 7 chapters and a CD that includes the exercises developed in each section, under the guidance of Rick Ellis. In short, a great acquisition for anyone who wants to learn Civil 3D well and increase their repertoire of reference documents.
A great book, which adds to the list of manuals of AutoDesk that this company has been developing in the field of Geospatial, specifically AutoCAD Map 3D, Land Desktop and Civil 3D.
It would be a waste of this post, if I do not take the opportunity to promote a series of free tutorials that Cadapult has available on its page. Most of them are brief tips that arise from the courses they teach and that while they serve to demonstrate the quality of their services, complement the collective knowledge that now implies saying how we did it to learn more.
Of the best, the tips to improve the performance of Civil 3D, among which mention the purging of unused styles, the optimization of labeling styles and the use of Clip boundaries On surfaces.
Here is a short list, although it is broader in each section. It is in English, for the purposes of this article I am showing the list translated into Spanish, so that you can go there and see it with your own eyes.

I do not know what you think but I want to make a comment regarding the generation of the final plans in civil 3d in terms of the presentations of plant and profile as these do not meet the needs of the different styles needed for the finishing of the same, because in the autocad land desktop it was done in an easy and organized way according to the requirements as for example to the cut of the profile so that in the same section fit the profile that leaves the frame of the same due to the exaggerated pending,
cutting it could be made easy in these cases, however, and found that in civil 3d when generating the final plans, it does so automatically but in an inadequate way so that the cuts must be made again canceling the ones given automatically in ways that only waste time, in addition to the sections for example in the metric system is already given for example in the first section that generally and by the rules in most cases is from 0 + 000 to 1 + 000 the civil 3d cuts it in 0 + 000 to 0 + 860 which must be redone in a dialog box to 1 + 000, however, only the profile is updated and the plant does not have the option to cut of the frame plant with that even worse, I do not know what is the reason for that setback with respect to the land because everyone talks about the civil 3d is superior to the land,
However, this is not the case, especially if we take into account that the most important thing is to finish the project where practicality and speed are needed most, which is not done with the civilian 3d, but it gets worse, it is true that in some aspects it has improvements with respect to the land but in others it has worsened as for example in the edited of the elevation or of Datum of a group of points neither does it in a dynamic way as it is done in the land, it is another disadvantage,
the best thing would be to come out versions of the Land Desktop with the improvements that corresponds to the civil 3d does not satisfy the needs once one has worked with the Land in addition to the civil 3d looks like an imitation Eagle Point and it seems the only program that will be available in future, hopefully another more practical program, since eagle is not popular either and it is uncomfortable for other people to exchange file types and so on, in addition to generating a lot of files, for example cross sections like the civil 3d that is also impractical in this case,
if anyone knows how to improve the civil 3d my mail is Jhxxxxxx@hotmail.com In return I can provide you with translated tutorials from the same help tutor from civil 3d from other parts of the program, as well as translated tutorials from the land regarding the generation of plan floor plans with Sheet Manager that is impressively useful and easy to use.
