The 2014 version of AutoCAD has already been presented, with its significant new features. As is tradition, next week we will do a review of what this change implies. However, first we want to concentrate on some aspects that preceded the launch of this version, which are basically a new corporate design and a licensing model based on specialized Suites.

The renewal of the corporate image that AutoDesk has had, which comes with a fresh tone to the traditional black that had predominated in recent years, has given us to talk in user forums. The change has gradually been implemented in the different service and product platforms, which by the way comes at a time when browsing from mobile devices was almost unbearable. The licensing model
AutoDesk has done a regrouping of applications in what has been called Suits, so that users can have different programs under a thematic orientation.

Although in all 100 programs are different, they have been grouped in the following 7 Suits scalable in Standard, Premium and Ultimate models.
It can be observed that in most Suites in the Standard level, AutoCAD is included, Raster Design that allows to convert raster to Vector (initially called Overlay) and now positioning much ReCap that is for the optimized handling of points clouds. At the Premium level, 3ds Max Design is often included and in Ultimate it depends on the specialty but generally NavisWork that is oriented to the collaborative assembly of objects in three-dimensional spaces of assembly type.
In general, we find the model interesting, although we are aware that the dispersion of products that AutoDesk has has been forcing it to do so, thus placing species of combos that in practice have products that duplicate many functionalities. The reason is that being purchased products and they had existing customers, it has not been easy to consolidate products and it has been necessary to keep them aliveWhat I imagine must be complex-.

The design of the interface of AutoDesk products remains stable after the integrated changes from version 2009; Therefore, the aforementioned changes in image do not have an impact on the interface appearance from the gray-black tone incorporated since AutoCAD 2009. And as for the conformation of the portfolio in the form of Suites, time will tell the necessary changes. The 2015 version will surely include retrofits based on products that users suggest within Standard Suites.
