How to raise 3D buildings in Google Earth
Many of us know the Google Earth tool, and that is why in recent years we have witnessed its interesting evolution, to provide us with more and more effective solutions in line with technological advances. This tool is commonly used to locate places, locate points, extract coordinates, enter spatial data to perform some type of analysis or venture to visit space, the moon or Mars.
Google Earth has fallen short in handling three-dimensional data, since its generation depends on third-party applications from which infrastructures, buildings or three-dimensional models are modeled. However, if you want to get a quick 3D view of the structures in a specific area, you just need to have some data on hand such as:
- Location
- Altitude of the object or structure
Sequence of steps
- Initially the application opens, in the main menu, the tool is located Add polygon, a window opens, indicating that the tool is ready.
- With the function specified above, you outline the outline of the structure that is needed, in the tab styles ¸ change the line and fill color, as well as its opacity.
- In the Altitude, The parameters to transform this polygon into 3D will be placed. These parameters are:
- Indicate the condition, in this case Relative to the ground Enter the options from the drop-down menu.
- For the complete structure to be formed, the box must be checked Spread all sides to the ground
- Altitude: defined by sliding the bar between ground and space, the closer the ground is, the lower the altitude.
In this way the structure has been built in 3D format, it is possible to make multiple polygons if necessary.
Today, the updates have been such that Google has changed the concept of this application, allowing access from the browser - provided it is Chrome -, with each and every one of its tools. The interface can be easily navigated, and the 3D, Street View, location features are visible, as well as showing in the relative situation balloon, exactly the place where you are browsing.
This video shows how the creation of three-dimensional buildings in Google Earth works.
