Version Differences MobileMapper Office and MobileMapper 6 Office
In the last post we have been talking about data downloaded from Magellan computers, and from there arises the need to clarify about different versions of MobileMapper Office.
The MobileMapper 6 Office
This is software, which comes when you buy a MobileMapper 6, Is a new software, which is just for its version 1.01.01
The utility of this is that it can be installed both on the desktop computer and on the same Windows Mobile GPS operating system. With this, you can Do post processing Directly on the equipment, in the field.
One disadvantage that we have seen is that it does not have an export option, the manual says so but there is not a single button that allows to operate with data other than shape files, which can be post-processed, keeping them in their original location. These capabilities are expected to be added in newer versions.
The projects in this one carry the .map extension, and are a simple external reference file, since such as .mmx or .prj deploy data contained in different routes.

The Mobile Mapper Office
This is the traditional version, it is a software for PC, that came from versions of the MM Pro and that with the Promark3 it comes in version 3.4a. It is compatible with Mobile Mapper Pro 6.52, 6.56 and 7x devices.
The advantages of this are in its ability to work with AutoCAD / Microstation (dxf) data, also with Mapinfo (mif), ESRI (shp) and excel (csv) or waypoints (mmw) data. This can be done to import or export.
The disadvantage is there, while the MM6 works directly on the shape files, in their respective addresses, it imports them, to export them again post-processed. It is likely that these functionalities already exist in new versions of the MM6 Office, since it has a more robust and recent development.
It is also possible with this to create background maps that include vector data (dxf, shp, mif) and also raster, among which it includes .ecw and .tiff. These background maps can be sent to the GPS from the program, or copied to the SD memory.
The projects in this one have the extension .mmj (mobile mapper office Job file), and unlike the first one, they keep all the data created inside. It has an entity list editor, with which tabular data associated with imported files can be modified, and it can also be stored with a .mmf extension.
This can be downloaded from the Ashtech page, this link
With this I hope to have clarified the difference.
LISTEN FRIENDS, I'M LIKE CRAZY LOOKING FOR HOW TO CONVERT THE BACKGROUND MAP FOR A PROMARK 3 GPS THAT I HAVE AT THE .IMI EXTENSION .. SINCE I SAVE IT .mmp BUT THE GPS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT .. IT ONLY RECOGNIZES ME .IMI FILES… WHAT IT HAPPENS THAT WHEN I CONNECT THE GPS, IT DOES NOT INSTALL THE GPS DRIVERS ... SO I CANNOT SEND BACKGROUND MAP TO PROMARK 3 .. AND THIS MOBILE MAPPER OFFICE PROGRAM DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO CONVERT IT TO, IMI
The Mobile Mapper Office extracts data from the GPS, if they are points they come in format x, y, z you can export them to dxf and see them in AutoCAD
Good morning
MY QUERY IS IF IN MOVILE MAPPER OFFICE I CAN CREATE A CLOUD OF POINT AND EXPORT IT TO EXCEL AND AUTOCAD AS IF I WORK IT FROM THE GPS DIRECTLY
