Connecting Societies - Geomatics Theme for the 2016 International Informatics Fair

We are pleased to announce that the Organizing Committee of the IX International Congress of GEOMÃ TICA 2016 has announced the framework of the XVI International Convention and Information Technology Fair for next year.

This event will take place in Havana, from March 14 to 18 with the central theme “Connecting Societies".

Among the topics to be addressed in 2016 Geomatics are:

Informatics Congress

1. Education and training in Geomatics.

Professional Training in Geomatics Engineering (Study Programs). Pathways, alternatives and experiences in postgraduate activities (Diplomas, Masters, Doctorates). Preparation of didactic materials using ICTs for professional training in Geomatics. Institutional policies for Geomatics training. Teaching of Geomatics from an early age. Experiences in the field of Geomatics Education. Generation of data in Geomatics applications in the field of natural resources and the environment.

2. Geodesy and Applied Topography.

Information technologies, global positioning systems and communications. Geoprocessing systems in topographic survey with GNSS and Total Stations. Development of Geodetic and Special Networks. Stations and permanent GNSS networks (CORS). Generation and use of Digital Terrain Models. Creation of geoid models. Numerical modeling from geotechnical and geodetic measurements. 3. Cadastre, Cadastral Information Systems.

Technology for the creation of the urban cadastral map with the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAV) images. Cadastral information systems for urban and rural buildings.

Methods for the cadastral renovation. Development of cadastral databases. Generation of thematic maps from cadastral databases with the application of generalization techniques. Cadastral valuation of real estate.

4. Cartography and Spatial Databases.

Technologies and Organization of the Production of National Cartography. Geospatial Databases Cartographic Generalization. Data integration models and metadata. Development of Data Mining tools. Digital Models in 3D, use of LiDAR. VANT technology for cartographic purposes. Access to information and data protection. Organization of Digital Files. 5. Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry.

Technologies for capturing geospatial data with digital frame and video cameras, combined with other sensors supported on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Development of technologies for the processing of aerial and satellite images for the creation and updating of topographical, cadastral and thematic maps in raster and vectorial formats. Capture and processing of images with different types of sensors. Development of projects oriented to geomatic applications. Use of satellite and aeronautical images for the generation of cartographic products for various purposes.

6. Marine Studies.

Technologies for the production and updating of nautical charts. Hydrographic, oceanographic and geophysical survey and processing systems. Production of electronic charts. Integration of simulation models. Maritime signage and automated monitoring systems. Standard formats for the exchange of hydrographic data.

7. Spatial Data Infrastructures and GIS.

Relation of Spatial Data Infrastructures with Government, Industry and Citizen. Future Trends in Geographic Information Management. Basic and applied research on IDEs. Evaluation of FDI. IDE experiences and case studies. Normativity of geographic information. Geospatial Business Intelligence (GeoBI). Geomarketing. Geospatial Linked Data and Web Geospatial Semantics. 8. Geomatics in function of Environment and Tourism.

Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems applied to the study of the Environment. Mapping of the Environment Cartography of risks and natural resources. Risk management systems and support for decision making in natural disasters. Geomatic solutions applied to tourism.
