Almost everything ready for 4as Jornadas gvSIG
The registration period of the 4as gvSIG Conference, organized by the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (CIT) of the Generalitat, is now open.
These will take place from 3 to 5 in December of 2008 at the Valencia Congress Center, and which will host this year the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) Meeting, from 1 to December 5, and Eclipse Day on December 2.
Registration is free although the capacity is limited and must be done through the existing form on the website of the Conference (http://www.jornadasgvsig.gva.es/cas/boletindeinscripcion/).
Below I present the invitation of Gaspar Peral:
"In just four years the gvSIG conference has become an international reference in the world of Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Data Infrastructures. A meeting place where more and more experts teach us not only that it is possible to offer professional solutions in these fields based on the integration of free technologies but that these technologies end up being better than the classic solutions based on proprietary models that do not allow access to knowledge.
Solutions are presented that faithfully follow international interoperability standards and that are also more sustainable, since, it is important to remember as many times as necessary, the use of free technologies, those that allow us access to knowledge, are the ones that are going to provide the necessary independence that allows us to be free to mark the evolution of our Information Systems; fundamental aspect for any organization.
The motto of these days is: gvSIG. Moving Forward Together. We remember that the previous days were with the motto Consolidate and AdvanceIn them, the reflection we proposed was the following: gvSIG had grown a lot and very fast, it was time to tidy up, to consolidate all that growth in a way that allowed us to keep moving forward. Well, we are ready to continue moving forward. Our proposal now is not to travel a path already marked, but that together we build that new road. That we see each other, that we talk to each other, that we exchange ideas, opinions, etc. in order to keep moving forward. But as we say in the motto of the conference: Moving forward together.
I do not want to finish without remembering that you will be able to observe that this year, during the gvSIG conference, two complementary events will be held, such as a meeting of the Technical Committee of the Open Geoespatial Consortium (OGC) and holding a Eclipse Day Hosted by another flagship project of our Conselleria as is the MOSKitt project.
Without further ado, invite you to come to Valencia those days hoping that together with the traditional kindness of our city, these days can be beneficial and satisfying for you. "
