The right of a blog to say things should end in the respect of who may feel aggrieved ... it is assumed.

But there is a long way to go from saying it to doing it, not only because the web is not regulated in this sense, but also because international borders do not exist; therefore, legislation and morality are complex to reconcile. While in one country it is freedom of expression to say “The mayor is corrupt”, in others for that phrase they take you to court for defamation unless you have proof.

On the street it was very easy to say “this mouth is mine”, on the web it is not so simple because a subjective comment can remain imprinted forever in the eyes of users, consumers… and search engines. The case of the blog boy”That cute passes” has brought a huge backlash in the blogosphere, after he came out in the open saying in all sincerity how bad Dattatec's hosting service was.

It happens that the company sent him a hat of those that lawyers know how to do, assuring him that if he does not make the adjustments to the post, they will surely proceed against him legally. Many may complain claiming the right to free expression, and encourage him to tear his clothes in front of the whole community ... including the sackcloth and ash on his head so that the big company learns its lesson.

For my part, I only remember that a while ago I wrote on the blog of a friend who had many visits but its content was only satire directed at the political class of his country. One day a comment came from a lawyer assuring that he was going to sue us, and that we show our faces because we used pseudonyms. For some time the friend forced himself to claim his right to free expression, until the lawyer managed to use simple Google threads in his terms of service, where he says that a blog cannot abuse degrading content.

I don't know how he did it, but Google heard the warning, and he canceled the blog (he was staying in a blogger) ... and he also banned his AdSense account.

Yes, your mouth is yours, your blog too. If you can avoid a problem you will have more peace of mind ... and if you are sure to face the consequences, give it wind ... also going through those penalties brings visitors 🙂
