The new generation of Ortophotos

Although digital image capture technologies have advanced, at the level of photogrammetry, the photos taken with analog cameras have been the best solution, partly due to the resolution of the negatives and the systematized methodology of orthorectification that takes more than 50 of use. To date, few companies have dared to another idea, and the technologies they have implemented are more oriented to the use of telematic equipment in ground control and in the automated post-processing of images. The digital base material has been more used for satellite imagery purposes, which still maintain a serious problem of orthorectification.

However, the example we present is a camera model and patented method Sony Corporation and University of Alabama, under the concept of Multilent matrix that is not something else (or yes it is ) that the adaptation of the mechanics of the satellite sensors but with application of orthorectification by means of the multilente.

This camera, which is presumed to be an object in controlled flight, has a curved panel and a matrix of cameras fitted to it, all aimed at a fixed point so that each lens shot intersects at a single point and is recorded in an internal registration panel; so you have a simultaneous shot with a number of variables that are sent to a land base and by means of an automated algorithm that combines the height of the shot, the reference spheroid, the pitch and alaveo of the carrier ship of the camera , overlaps and other data to produce an image that in combination with the others of the same flight line can be quasi-rectified on the fly or at least require little ground control data that may be preliminary!.

The model is complemented with an orientation of the object in flight from the ground base, in order to be able to direct it to the area of interest.

The idea is simple in design but complex in practice, which is why we assume that it will take some time, considering that it idealizes 1 Gigapixel photos and a high-speed interconnection with a terrestrial processing point ... on the flight.

The following image shows the processing of the aerial capture files up to the product that the terrestrial user sees. Health by smoking.
