Satellite image on your desktop ... in real time

For those maniacs for the weather and to know if on the other side of the world it is day ... this application is of Suck fingers.

If you like Desktop Earth, which turns your computer desktop into a satellite view. Although it might seem like a simplistic image, let's see how it works and I assure that more than one after reading the post will go to test it even if it is to see if it is true.

Satellite image in real time Beyond being a simple image, you can configure what they call "Day image"Where it is possible to define a month of the year and this shows the change that happens for the winter in the latitudes near the pole.

See this image on the right showing the difference between January and August.

There is another option of bathymetric view that shows the ocean in shades and if left in "Auto select from date"Is set to the date of the operating system.

Day or night

Satellite image in real time Then in the options "Night image”Can be set to show the solar illumination corresponding to the computer time. A different GMT can be specified.

There are also options for specifying whether the darkness is displayed as a simple shadow, with moonlight or night lights of cities.

Atmosphere in real time

Satellite image in real time Then among the most interesting, you can define the option to view clouds from more than 10 sources of atmospheric information and set minimum or maximum density.

To configure the data sources option, once installed, right-click the taskbar icon and select "Cloud updates”. You can also define how often the image is expected to be updated, ranging from 3 to 24 hours.

Oh, and to prove how true it is, see the comparison between the atmosphere of Google Earth and the desktop.

Simply great! I imagine a great utility for the times of hurricanes simply to know if Txus already fell asleep;).

I know, my desk is loaded with documents and my widescreen monitor looks wonderful.

  3. Hello, interesting post, just a tip… I recommend that you use Fences ( http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/index.asp ) to manage the icons and documents on your desktop… just a double click and the desktop is clean …… I know it is an intracendental comment… but you would better observe the weather ………

    regards

  4. Oops, it seems that I did wake Txus.
To clarify, it is only a desktop background with the atmosphere updated periodically.
