GvSIG 1.9 RC1, ready to download

Already ready for Download gvSIG 1.9 RC1, the first Release Candidate release from the 1243 Build 313 of August.

The download took a while, because initially gvsig.org was out of service, from where the builds are downloaded, then the version available when unzipping and executing it appeared as a corrupt file. But finally here it is, for us to use, test, and report issues.

At the moment I have not found strange messages, I am using it in the Acer Aspire One Netbook, and it seems not to kill so much memory, although Not a high-performance machine. I recognize the projects created previously and I hope to be testing their functionality in these days of leisure.

As for improvements, there are many, I will take some time to try, in the end we agree to all have a version that meets the needs and problems raised by the community.

Uncomfortable Aspects:

Gvsig19

The layer management side panel is quite functional, but for now I have encountered some unjustifiable discomfort with grouping layers. One of the reasons for grouping is to make handling more practical, the plus sign allows hiding the display of layers within the group.

-But every time you apply a simple change in the layer control panel like:

  • Upload a new layer
  • Change symbology for a layer
  • Make a new grouping of layers
  • Undo a layer group
  • Placing a layer within a specific group

All groupings are displayed in an unfolded way, making it tiring if you have several. Nor can I find a reason why, it is supposed to keep the deployment conformation.

To try it

The life of these tools is in the community, I recommend that you download it, play it, try it, do not use it for formal work, but participate in its validation because that depends on having greater satisfaction in the stable version.

Here you can Download the version And here you can see the News list.
