Engineering in Surveying, available in Guatemala

Many countries have lagged behind in this field, despite having undergone different processes of modernization of land administration, generally supported by international cooperation projects. The case of Guatemala is a good exercise that allows to give sustainability to the efforts to maintain a bank of professionals who can support the actions implemented.

For European countries, which bring a historical process between the modernization of territorial administration and the certification of professionals ... let alone the careers of public officials.

In Guatemala, the Engineering Survey in Surveying arises from the modernization process of the Land Registry and the Cadastral Registry, which still has a long way to go but with a good step for what we see; in the model of 2014 Cadastre The role of the surveyor is vital for technical sustainability and outsourcing of responsibilities that public institutions should not execute but regulate.

The objectives of the academic pensum at the University of San Carlos, which is managed through the Faculty of Agronomy (FAUSAC) They are:

  • Train and graduate surveying technicians and land administration engineers to meet the needs of professionals with the ability to manage information about the earth's surface and its immediate surroundings.
  • Train professionals who provide and manage graphic and spatial, numerical and literal information of a portion of land or territory to be used as a tool for the development of socio-economic projects and land planning.
  • Incorporate into society, professionals trained with technical and ethical rigor in the field of measurements, collection, data processing, spatial information management and analysis of results, for the determination of the shape and dimensions of the Earth and the application of policies of territorial planning.
  • Promote the formation of reflexive, creative, autonomous and committed individuals with society.
  • Develop reflection processes on disciplinary knowledge, both at the time of learning and at the time of teaching.

total station There is both a degree and postgraduate degree, it does not look bad, because graduates (supposedly) come out with training in areas of topography, cadastre, geodesy, photogrammetry, remote sensors, geographic and geomatic information systems.

Due to the limitations of the Central American region, the chapines have a good challenge to create market conditions for these graduates, especially in the modernization of the public career, certification of professionals and projection towards the globalized market.

At the outset it would be good if they were forced to open a blog in Cartesians ... heh, he will take Tomás traffic with his dedicated server but more than one will leave geofumated after four years.
