Dimensioning with AutoCAD - Section 6

27.5 Dimension Styles

Dimension styles are very similar to the text styles we saw in the 8.3 section. It is to establish a series of parameters and characteristics of the dimensions that are engraved under a name. When we create a new dimension, we can choose to have that style and with it all its characteristics. Also, just like text styles, we can modify a dimension style and then have the dimensions updated.
To set new dimension styles we use the dialog box trigger in the Dimensions section of the Annotate tab. Also, of course, we can use a command, in this case, Acoestil. In any case, the dialog box that manages the dimension styles of a drawing opens.

We can modify the style associated with a dimension much like we change a layer object. That is, we select the dimension and then select its new style from the drop-down list of the section. That way, the quota will acquire the properties established in that style as we saw in the previous video.
There is a final mention. It is obvious that as studied so far, you will assign all dimension objects to a layer created for that purpose, so that you can assign them a specific color and other properties through the layer. One more mention: there are even those who suggest that dimensions must be created in the space of the presentation of a drawing, but that is a subject that we will see in a next chapter.
