With great pleasure we announce the new courses of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy that just now 7 has just launched new opportunities, all from a distance, online and free. All start the September 1 and end the October 19 of the 2008, so they are intensive. The deadline to apply will close the August 19, 2008.

1. Applications of the Multifinalitarian Cadastre in the Definition of Urban Land Policies

image The objective of this course is to promote the critical examination of the cadastral systems in force in the different Latin American jurisdictions and, from there, develop methodological alternatives aimed at structuring proposals that contemplate the changes that are necessary for the consolidation of an information system really useful for the implementation of territorial policies promoting urban development.

2. Geographic Information Systems Applied to Urban Studies

gis Its objective is to disseminate knowledge of GIS and to develop works aimed at developing thematic letters and databases useful for the implementation of new territorial policies that promote urban development.

3. Taxes on Real Estate Property and Valuation of Real Estate

image Its objective is to promote the examination of legal, political and economic principles that guide real estate taxation, as well as the function of property tax as an instrument of urban development and its other beneficial effects. It seeks to identify ways to overcome critical factors responsible for inequities in the current systems, through the identification of alternatives for the operation of the real estate cadastre and strategies to achieve greater efficiency in the collection of the tax. Special attention is given to issues related to property valuation.

4. Access and Management of Urban Land for the Poor in Latin America

image The objective of this course is to promote the critical analysis of the conditions and mechanisms of access to urban land by both the poor and the poor, and its consequences in the economic, social and urban environment. Various experiences of urban land management in other regions of the world are examined, as well as some that begin to emerge in Latin America.

5. Financing of Latin American Cities with Urban Land

image This course encourages the critical examination of the various policies around the financing of cities through urban land. Various direct action, regulatory and fiscal instruments, particularly property tax, that mobilize capital gains to finance urban goods and services to broad sectors of the population, particularly those with lower resources, are analyzed. The course involves experiences from various parts of the world; however, it places special emphasis and is exercised on the context of Latin America.

6. Urban Land Markets in Latin America

image This course encourages the critical examination of the structuring, operation and regulation of land markets and their reflection on economic, social and urban problems. Various policies and practices are analyzed, motivations and consequences of experiences from other regions of the world as well as those emerging in Latin America are discussed.

7. Legal Dimensions of Soil Policies

image This course aims to present the different legal and legal frameworks, as well as the urban legal principles and instruments that can be used in the management of cities using the categories of Urban Law or strategies based on the general principles of law.
