Long trip, for three days I have been on tour, with succulent Creole foods. Finally back, lots of unread emails and the new Kodak 12.2 megapixel camera is doing very well.

Bentley extends interoperability to FME.
Very interesting, Bentley Map has integrated the possibility of interacting data via ETL de Safe Software. With what can be read More than 250 formats CAD, GIS, Raster and databases. The news is not so much for Bentley users, but for other platforms that until now, read the dgn V8 but pcocos (or none) had mentioned reading xml data from a Bentley Map project.
Bentley and AutoDesk have long since Signed an agreement to improve interoperability, a topic that with this alternative they are achieving to make Bentley Map interact with AutoDesk Civil 3D. It seems to us one of the best Bentley decisions, since ETL acts as an exchange adapter, both to load (load), extract (extract), and transform (transform) information with a spatial approach, which Safe Software does very well. Different companies do it through this route, including:
- AutoDesk
- ESRI
- Mapinfo
- MapInfo
- Intergraph
- Oracle
- SmallWorld
It works with versions starting with Bentley Map SELECT Series1, that is, V8.11.7 released in November 2009. My big question is whether open source software can take advantage of this. Here you can see the video of how it works.
2. Course on Real Estate Tax
The Lincoln Institute has announced an interesting Professional Development Course on Real Estate Property Tax in Latin America.
This will be from the 23 to the 30 of April of 2010 in Costa Rica, promoted by the Technical Standardization Body (ONT) of the Regularization Program of Cadastre and Registry of Costa Rica.
The methodology, based on a case study, based on the experience that is being carried out in Costa Rica and, with the exchange at a previous virtual classroom level, with the participants from different countries is expected to obtain valuable results for strong challenges such as:
- Synchronies between property tax and other taxes
- Local financing models; Tax design of the property tax
- Tax Decentralization
- Cadastral re-structuring projects and continuous data update routines
- Mass valuation and quality control of jobs
- Combat evasion (collection and recovery of debts)
- Taxpayer Assistance
- Performance indicators to assess tax performance
